There are many different things that you can use when trying to keep your home safe and secure. Something that is quite effective are motion security lights. These are bright and help to illuminate the dark shadows all around the home. They cost between $20 to $50 and are easy for you to install into an existing source.
Before you begin you must turn off all power to the light fixture. Once you have turned the breaker or fuse off you need to test it with a voltage tester. This is a double check to make sure there is absolutely no power coming from it.
Take the new light fixture from the box. Make sure that you do not lose the parts and screws that it came with. Now remove the existing fixture by using a cordless drill or a standard screwdriver.
When the old fixture has been removed you will be ready to install the base of the motion security light. Mark where the screws need to be. If the holes do not match up than you need to install a wood, metal, or masonry bit onto the drill where you have marked it.
Match up the source wires to the new fixture wires. If the existing wires are uneven or too long or short than you need to use wire cutters to strop ¾ of an inch of the plastic from it. Color coordinate the wires (black to black) and screw in the wire caps.
Now place the light fixture onto the base. Make sure that the rubber seal is even before you screw in the fixture. Turn the power back on and test it out for yourself. Make sure that the motion is working properly when you walk by.
