With all of today’s technology you can bet that there is a type of lock that you are able to use – which will keep your home secured from outsiders. People who do not mind paying more for a door security system should consider using a fingerprint door lock. This is a type of keyless entry that will help not only against burglars – but also keep you from worrying about losing your keys.
These use high quality biometric fingerprint recognition technology that will read and record more then 150 fingerprints and around 78 pass codes. The most common to use for homes are the single latch tubular units. These are able to replace the standard door locks and is easy enough for you to install it on your own.
They are equipped with 560 dpi and a live layer optical sensor technology that helps to make reading each set of fingerprints accurate. They have been tested and these tests show that the rate of it letting someone in due to a false reading is 0.0001%. It is built with stainless steel and is designed to withstand against any type of weather. The fingerprint door lock does not use any wires – but batteries that will last for more than 10,000 entries in a single year.
Installing A Fingerprint Door Lock
- Drill holes into the door and the door frame if necessary. At least one hole will have to be made into the door which will need to be two inches thick for the deadbolt to fit into. A similar hole will be made in the door frame in order for the deadbolt to lock into.
- Make sure that you properly adjust the deadbolt to fit well into the locking mechanism. You can do this by using a screwdriver and pushing it into the driver board hole and turning it till it is at the proper position. It needs to be able to retract far enough into the door in order for it to open when not locked but also be able to extend far enough to make sure that when locked it is sealed shut.
- The face of the door latch and the deadbolt should sit on the edge of the door. Place screws in the appropriate holes and tighten them against the door. Use a hammer when putting on the metal plates – which are also known as strikes – inside of the holes in the door frame. This will protect the frame from being damaged.
- To install the locking mechanism you will place it with the fingerprint window on the outside of the door. Have someone hold it in the right spot while you place the back plate on the inside of the door. Use screws to secure the two pieces together.
