Door Security Locks

A great way to keep your home safe and secure is to replace your basic locks with something that is much stronger and more effective at keeping the wrong people out. There are many different types of locks that you can purchase at any type of home department store.

Hotel Style Lock

This is an effective type of lock that is commonly found on hotel room doors – but can be purchased for your home doors. It allows you to open the door partially to identify who is standing at the door without them gaining access to your home. The lock cannot be reached from people standing outside and prevents them from breaking it open.

It is made using heavy duty steel that can handle any type of damage that is done to it. It can be installed in five minutes onto the top portion of the door above the door bolt. It is simple and easy for you and your children to use without the worry that you might lock yourself out. Increase the safety of your home in under $10.

Key Chain Lock

The key chain lock is one of the more common types of locks that can be found in many homes. As with the hotel style lock these allow you to open the door slightly to see who is standing outside. The downside to these is that too often people will use one that is not tamper resistant and can be easily broken when the door is forced open. You need to find a model that is made using strong and durable materials to prevent this. These are easy to use and install and can cost as little as $10.

Lock Jaw Locks

The lock jaw locks are some of the best to use on doors that have single cylinder deadbolts on the door. They are built in such a way that prevents people from using a bump key or any other instrument to pick the lock. It will also prevent people from using their home keys to gain entrance into the home.

You can install this yourself using the necessary screws that it came with or double sided sticky tape. The second method allows you to take the lock jaw with you when you move. When it is locked it prevents the thumb latch on the deadbolt from turning to the unlocked position and retracting back inside of the door. It is simple and easy for you and your children to use and usually costs around $20.
